Music Review: Captured! By Robots
Android band's vibe doesn't capture all, but has novelty
Published: Thursday, September 12, 2002
What happens when an ex-member of Skankin' Pickle and Blue Meanies quits sharing the spotlight, listens to too much Gwar and watches "Short Circuit" and "Terminator" too many times? The logical deduction from this combination is definitely not Captured! By Robots but that is exactly what happened. Captured! By Robots consists of two pre-programmed drum machines, an automaton guitar maestro, a oversized ape doll with a cerebral tambourine hemorrhage, and Jason Vance, the human, partially disemboweled slave who is subjected to the robots' demands could not be any stranger nor wackier. CBR's unique blend of android driven thrash metal, juvenile lyrics, and comedy sketches will definitely not be enjoyed by all, maybe just by die-hard novelty music fans and engineering majors interested in artificial intelligence.
Think it's a joke? See Captured! By Robots when they come to the Launchpad on September 30th for verification, you dumb human.
